If you do not have access to your original Office XP CD-ROM you can install Office XP SP3 Full File Version (58925 KB). When installing SP3, you may be prompted to insert one or more of your original Office XP CD-ROMs. To install SP3 without the original Office XP CD You could try the Office XP SP3 full download, which in most cases will not ask for the CD. The MS support site recommends contacting the PC manufacturer to obtain a CD ROM.

I tried installing the full version but that failed to resolve the problem. I went to the MS Office support web site and there apparently are two versions of the update a client version if you have the original Office XP CD, and a full version for those without the CD.
As a result, they can no longer run Excel. SP3 contains significant security enhancements, in addition to stability and performance improvements.
Subsequently, whenever the try to launch Excel, they get the message window popping up to insert Office XP CD. They only received the system resource cds. They did not receive an Office XP CD ROM with. My church purchased a Dell P4 system with bundled MS Office XP Small Business pre-installed. Not under warranty so not eligible for chat/e-mail order support. This system was purchased in March of 2003.
